We were approached by a customer in Epsom, Surrey looking to have shutters installed to their kitchen. The shutters were to be placed on a large window above the sink area. Our customer was keen for a water resistant solution, as they told us that a lot of water would often splash against the window area and were worried about the damage this may do to the wood of the plantation shutters.
Fortunately one of our ranges is created using a PVC coating which makes the shutters waterproof and is the perfect solution for areas such as this, also with clients opting to have them fitted in bathrooms, wet rooms and near showers.
The PVC shutters were installed with stainless steel hinges which are also anti corrosive, again perfect for areas where there is regular water and moisture. The shutters themselves are created using a tier on tier style giving ultimate flexibility to the customer. They can be opened, closed and adjusted in multiple different ways and because they are waterproof there is no worry about touching them with wet hands!
We used 76mm louvres with centralised tilt rods for an elegant, yet traditional look and finished them in a lovely silk white. We feel that the end result not only looks fantastic, is practical and will stand the test of time even next to the sink.
